Patio blinds are a great investment when it comes to saving money. There are tons of ways you can design your patio and a lot of times it can be expensive. There are some businesses out there that will go to your house, make an estimate and have a binder filled with tons of patio designs for you to pick from. They will build exactly what they have in the picture because normally that’s what they are good at making. When you start coming up with your own design or customizing what they have, that's when it can get fairly expensive.

In this article you will learn about the types of blinds that are out there, ways to save money when getting your own blinds and what to look for when purchasing your blinds.

Types of Blinds

There are many ways you can make a patio blind out of but here are some of the blinds I’ve seen and thought were pretty good: Bamboo patio blinds, wood blinds, honey comb blinds, woven wooden blinds, shutters, mini blinds, roller blinds, outdoor patio blinds, patio door blinds, patio window blinds, patio doors with blinds, aluminum blinds and even fabric blinds which I thought looked really nice. There are a lot more other selection you can chose from, you just got to search around and see what you like best.

Saving Money

A patio to me is an area in your backyard where you can relax outside and just enjoy your day. You don’t really need all that fancy patio equipment where it looks like a room with windows and furniture’s and all that good stuff. This is just like sitting in your house pretty much. I’ve seen patios with nice ground design with all that water running and expensive structures which you don’t need if you’re low on money. You can save a lot of money if you’re comfortable with just anything that covers your head while you sit outside. This can even be an umbrella or a shed.

This shouldn’t cost more than a thousand dollars if you buy wood and support structure to build a little area to cover yourself from possible heavy rain and sunlight. If the area you’re comfortable with has too much sunlight than you can get blinds and install them to cover up any sunlight that bothers you. By learning how to do things on your own you can save tons of money. When you hire someone to build your patio with all that nice design and structure it can cost over $5000 mainly due to labor work. By finding a design that doesn’t have blinds and installing them yourself later can save you money as well. Just play with what you’re comfortable with and expand from there.

Pricing

You pretty much get exactly what you pay for unless you buy it from company that purposely raise the price to make extra money for themselves. I’ve looked around and it seems like the prices ranges from $30 to well over $200. You have to think that when it comes to blinds here are certain things you have to consider:

1) Do you really need the blinds? When you look around a lot of people have some crazy patios that don’t even need blinds. Their patio is built in a way where they have lots of shading to begin with. Even in the summer days where there’s a lot of heat and sunlight, where they are comfortable at is just as great as with or without blinds.

2) How much of it do you need? I’ve seen people who built their patio area where there is little sunlight going through where they relax so they have like a 2x2 blind covering up that area. There are people who have sunlight shining at them no matter where they sit on their patio and needs extremely long blinds that cover up every area around them. This of course would cost more money because even though it may be cheap to begin with, you will have to buy a lot of them to cover up what you want.

3) What type of blinds do you want? When it comes to outdoor blinds I like the roller blinds best because not only are they cheap compare to the wooden ones, they are also easy to get out of the way when not needed. You just roll them up and it still looks neat on your patio. The blinds where you move to the side don’t look neat to me. It’s all about how you like to from your perspective.

The best source of searching for patio blinds is online because they offer so many different types and brand and gives you an idea of how much they cost. Something like this can be costly due to shipping and handling because of weight. I would use the online source as to see what’s out there and see what fits best for me. There are also a lot of videos out there that will show you how to install blinds if you don’t know how to and ways to improve your patio area. Leave me a comment if you have any other ideas
